Meet The Stranger Who Runs This Horror Show!

Hey, this is Kimberly and it’s been a while since I introduced myself. Here I am, an idiot with a Snapchat filter!

(My god I remember this night, after 12 hours of podcast editing. I could no longer stand the sound of my own voice.)

Obviously, this is my site so I am a film fan and I have a huge collection and I like it all —old new, big budget block busters and low budget indie films, American and international. I like to talk film and search for rare oldies with fellow film fans. I collect physical media in all of it’s forms and as you can imagine, it’s a lot but I love it!

This blog came about as a catalogue as I documented the movies that I own and I decided to add synopses in order to help people who were searching for movies that they’d seen but didn’t know the title but might remember a scene or an odd moment. My blog is also for people who want to know what the movie is about before they watch it.

So with all the movie watching and movie talking, during the pandemic I began a film podcast with some of my favorite people to chat about movies with. It was an effort to build community and keep what was left of an online community that was being ravaged. We bonded over movie talk. it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made in the last 5 years.

We’ve had incredible guests, people we could only dream of having —Jason Pargin, formerly David Wong, of Cracked and John Dies and the End and more recently, I’m Starting to Worry About This Black Box of Doom. Peter Atkins, the screenwriter of Hellraiser and Wishmaster, AL Katz from Tales from the Crypt and Demon Knight. I’ve had the very prolific actor Billy Blair, who paired with director Todd Jenkins and that was the first time I’d ever heard the down and dirty side of filmmaking. And how working with the wrong people can literally ruin your life. Plus recent Emmy winner, Don Thacker (Devolver Digital), director of Motivational Growth starring Adrian DiGiovanni and Jeffrey Combs. Don and Adrian were a delight to have on the show!

We’ve Jill (Sixx) Gevargizian, the director of The Stylist and Ghost Game, she’s incredible, she even has film festival. I found an extremely underrated Scream Queen and filmmaker, I didn’t know I needed in my life with Diane Foster. If you have not seen The Orphan Killer, you are missing out!

Martin Bats Bradford is another prolific actor who has definitely been in movies and series you’ve seen, from NCIS to Green Book, he talks about the inequities of actors all over the country, you will learn something from his episode. We’ve even had Scott Goldberg, director of The Forest Hills, which was the last film of the late, great Shelley Duvall.

We’ve had so many hard working and brilliant filmmakers, screenwriters and actors share their time and stories with us, it’s been amazing. If you’d like to hear their stories, I’d love to share them with you! They are all on Macabre…ish Cults, Classics & Horrors Podcast. It’s wherever you get your podcasts and on the widget on the front page of this website, www.macabreish.com.

Two of the best aspects of my podcast are my guest hosts, Chris Thompson and Carlos Ibarra. They are hilarious and unbelievably knowledgable about movies in general. We have many, many decades of film knowledge between us. Chris is a published author who went to film school and Carlos is now a filmmaker. He actually got his big break from one of our earlier guests, Mitch Wilson, who is the director of Knucklebones (2016) and Pendulum (2023 keep an eye out for this one!).

I do all of this because I love it. The work is hard and takes a lot of effort and so you gotta love it to make it worth it. We have a lot of exciting guests to look forward to and their enthralling stories. Plus returning guests with their new films and accompanying stories and that includes Carlos! He cannot wait to share what he’s been working on with you all.

We have some other exciting things to share with you in the future as this all evolves into much greater things, it’s gonna be amazing! Follow along, we want to share it with you https://linktr.ee/macabre_ish

Thanks for being here!
